Basic Green Smoothie

The variations on this smoothie are endless!  Any combination of fruit and greens (about 50/50) can be used.  Eat/drink this mid morning and it really helps with mitigating or eliminating the craving for sweets and other simple carbohydrates-something that most people will cite as their "diet downfall". Drinking a green smoothie is a GREAT way to get greens (and all of their nutruients-protein, calcium, vitamins) into your body. The blender ruptures the cell walls of the greens (something that humans have a difficult time doing thoroughly through the chewing process) so all of the nutrients INCLUDING protein become available for your body to absorb and utilize. Make it in the morning and transfer it into a portable container to enjoy as a mid morning snack when out and about.
If possible, use a vitamix blender for all smoothies-the texture is so smooth!

Ingredients
• 2 Cups of any Organic Greens (a combination of Kale and Spinach gives this smoothie the best texture. Using only Kale can make the smoothie a little “mulchy” but some people prefer it that way
• 1 Ripe Banana
• 1 pieces, two cups, or a combination of whatever ripe fruit you have around (great way to use up stuff that might turn) I prefer Pineapples, Mangos, Apples and Pears.
• 1 ½ (12 oz) cup water
• 2 handfuls ice cubes

Optional Additions
• 1 T Raw Honey
• 1 T Bee Pollen

Method
Blend until smooth (this is where the Vita mix blender really comes in handy--so smoooooooooth).
