The 39 day countdown!!!!!

39 Days until the Lake Placid Ironman. I'm a little stressed because my training has been somewhat spotty. 39 Days. Kind of a random number.  This is a race which I've done 5 times. That Survivor (or whatever big hair band that was) song "The Final Countdown" is blaring in my head.   In tuning up for the race, I've decided to adhere to a few of "must does" in my daily eating. I figure that blogging about it will keep me honest. And accountable.  And yes, I love to talk about food. I think of finely tuned nutrition as "free speed" for racing. And I need that free speed!!!

Today's Eating

Breakfast-5:30

  • Green Smoothie -1 banana, 1 Cup Pineapple, 2 Cups spinach, 2 Tbsp Vitamineral Green, 1 Apple, Water.  Makes about 1 quart. Tempo drinks a quarter whatever I make each day, so I am getting 24 ounces or so

Pre bike ride-9:00 

  • 1 piece toasted Brown Rice Bread with 1 Tbsp Raw Almond Butter, 1 Tbsp Raw Honey, Sprinkling of Sea Salt

During Bike Ride (2 hours, 40 minutes)

  • 4 Medjool Dates-I love dates. The Medjool type are big and soft. They fit into a bike jersey just fine. And there is no packaging to add to a carbon footprint (what am I saying, I LIVE IN VEGAS-LOL!)

Post Bike Ride/30 minute run (ugh!)

  • 1/2 Raw Hammer Cashew-Chocolate Bar,
  • 6 Flax Seed Crackers (Raw, made in the dehydrator)
  • 1 Synergy "Strawberry Serenity" Drink

Afternoon

  • 1 Farm Fresh Egg from Jared and Heather Fisher's "Farm" in Blue Diamond--love the Taxi Cab Yellow Yolk! and 1/2 Cup Eggs Whites (Scrambled)
  • 1 Cup Raw Broccoli, Carrot and Raisin Salad with Living Curry-Cashew Dressing (Raw Dish)

Evening (during work)

  • 1 Synergy Grape Drink
  • 1 Cliff Walnut Chocolate Nectar Bar 

Daily Rules

  • Drink at least 16 ounces of a green smoothie each day
  • If I do decide to have coffee, limit to 8 ounces
  • Drink 2 cups of Green Tea each day
  • Take my vitamins and supplements--Hammer Nutrition Products (Premium Insurance Caps, Race Caps Supreme, Antixodants, Boron, Mitrochondria Caps), Calcium, Coenzyme Q 10 and Macca Root
  • Take 20-30 chorella tabs
  • Limit wine intake (if any) to 2 glasses
  • Take 2 Tablespoons Raw Apple Cider Vinegar Each day
  •  Eat one big salad a day as one of my meals.
  • Eat many raw fruits and vegetables. make it a priority!
Limit or Eliminate completely
  • Wheat, Alcohol, Coffee
  • Dairy except for a couple of ounces of Raw Milk Cheeses a week
  • Sugar except from Fruit, Raw Honey, Maple Syrup and Raw Agave Nectar.  Exceptions being if doing long run or ride, using a sports beverage
  • White Flour, White Sugar
