Good Morning Raw Oatmeal
Recipe by Leslie Myers
Oat Porridge is one of my breakfast staples. I get a lot out of the simple pleasures of life, and blending this with blueberries gives it a brilliant purple color which makes me laugh in the wee hours of the morning because purple is my favorite color (“look honey, purple food”!) Unfortunately, you do need a blender for this recipe, so if you are traveling it is little more challenging to prepare (you can move on to an easy breakfast on the go; manna bread with almond butter!). I try to eat as much “raw” food as possible as I believe that it is more nutritious than cooked food. While I am not 100% “raw”, I do eat a probably 70-80 percent “raw” diet on any given day.
Ingredients
• ½ Cup raw oatmeal or oat flakes, soaked overnight
• 1 piece or 1 cup of fresh fruit or ¼ cup dry fruit. Possibilities are endless—if you don’t have the traditional breakfast banana or berries, try grapes, figs, nectarines, apples or pears
• pinch salt
• ¼ tsp cinnamon
• 2 tsp Hemp, Chia or Flax Seeds
• Additional water to adjust consistency
Method
In high speed blender, blend into porridge—about 30 seconds to one minute. Adjust consistency with water.
